Review

A minor film from the early career of director Leigh, Kiss of Death is essentially the dead-end story about the dead-end life of Trevor, a pathetic and slightly sociopathic Manchester youth. Trevor hangs out with his best friend, makes a half-hearted and mean-spirited stab at dating, and keeps up his work as a mortuary assistant. As slice-of-life and character study, the film exhibits Leigh's innate talents, but its story goes nowhere and lacks any shred of motivating interest.
